USDT on Ethereum (ERC-20) is the original version of Tether and is accepted by most crypto casinos. It’s also usually the most expensive common network to send on, and some casinos set higher minimums for it. This guide explains how ERC-20 deposits work, what they cost now, which casinos we review accept them, and when another network makes more sense.
How an ERC-20 deposit works
- Choose USDT (or USDC) on “ERC-20” or “Ethereum” in the cashier. The address starts with
0x. - In your wallet or exchange, choose the same coin on Ethereum. Many exchanges list Ethereum first; double-check you haven’t picked BNB Chain, Arbitrum or Base, which use identical-looking addresses.
- Hold some ETH if you send from your own wallet: gas on Ethereum is paid in ETH.
- Send a small test first if the casino or network is new to you. Transfers usually confirm within a few minutes; follow them on Etherscan.
What ERC-20 transfers cost
Ethereum fees depend on how busy the network is. Our deposit cost index measures the gas actually paid by recent USDT transfers every six hours and publishes the 30-day median and range. Ethereum costs far more than Solana, Polygon or BNB Chain even on quiet days, and can spike to several dollars when demand is high. Exchanges usually charge a higher withdrawal fee for Ethereum than for cheaper networks, too.

These reviewed casinos don't publish their stablecoin networks outside the cashier, so they may or may not support Ethereum (ERC-20): Winz.io, Metaspins, BitStarz, BC.Game ⚠, BetFury, 1xBit ⚠.
Watch the minimums: some casinos ask for more on Ethereum than on cheaper networks. Duelbits, for example, lists a $50 minimum deposit for USDT on Ethereum against none on Tron. Rollbit is a case where Ethereum is the only stablecoin network its help centre confirms.
When to use ERC-20, and when not to
- Use it when it’s the only network both your exchange or wallet and the casino support, or for larger amounts where a flat fee matters less.
- Avoid it for small, frequent deposits: a fee of even a few dollars is a big share of a $20 deposit. Our fee calculator shows the difference per month.
- Cheaper alternatives at many casinos: Solana, Polygon, BNB Chain or Tron. See casinos by network.
Pitfalls
- Same address, different network. Sending on BNB Chain or Arbitrum to an address given for Ethereum is the most common ERC-20 mistake. See wrong-network deposits.
- Approvals. A deposit is a simple transfer. If a site asks you to approve token spending instead, stop and check.
- Fake tokens. Only send USDT that came from an exchange or a source you trust.
